Goal: To overcome procrastination by using the Pomodoro technique

Hello guys, in this blog I am going to tell you how I completed my today’s tasks by using pomodoro technique. You are also curious to know about this. Are not you? Of Course, you are.

Keep Reading if you want to know.

I had a lot of work to complete by today but there was no clear image in my mind of what I should do first. So, to come out of my confusing situation I wrote all the tasks in a notebook which I had to accomplish by today. I prioritize them by most important and less important. Now I had a clear image of my work.

I selected the most important and bigger task to accomplish first as it is saying;

“Eat the bigger frog first if you had to eat many others”

My Task was to complete an Amal course “Creating a superhero resume”.

I decided to complete this task by using the Pomodoro technique because it was a big task and, easier for me to do by this method.

Pomodoro technique is a method in which we divide our tasks into milestones.

In this method, we set a timer of 25minute then a 5-minute break and then we repeat this process 4 times and a long 20–30min break (A shown in image below). Repeat the process until the task gets completed or to start a new task.

The Pomodoro technique

I calculated the total time required to complete the task.

I set a timer of 25 minutes and started my course. But after 5 minutes my mind started diverting and calling “Hey, check your messages you have important notification” and blah, blah. I ignored them and got engaged in my work again and then no distraction came into my mind until the timer rang. I tick on my task list.

In the next 5 minutes break, I checked my emails and WhatsApp notifications.

I started again and this time passed without any kind of distractions and I completed my next three slots with more focus and attention.

I took a nap of 20 minutes after completing 4 checkmarks and then again came back to my work.

Before my first long break, almost 50% of the course had been covered and now my mind was relaxed, and I completed the rest of the course with the same method.

By using this method I was more focused and attentive toward my task and able to complete the course in time without distractions. The results are more productive than usual.

I was able to limit my nap period as before whenever I went for a nap I could not wake up before 1 hour and this was a great achievement for me with completion of the course.

I will apply this method in my daily life routine and for other projects also, I recommend you to try this to accomplish your major projects.

Thank you for reading my Blog to the end and at last, I would like to share a quote.

“Time management is a key Although it seems hectic, as long as you manage your time properly you can get everything done”. (John Cena)
